Bhubaneswar: Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited has won the Best Exhibitor award at the 19th Urban Mobility India conference. Union Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Minister Manohar Lal presented the award to Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar, according to a release listed on Pune Metro’s website on 26 October 2026.
Digital Systems on Display
The showcase covered a real-time project management dashboard, digital operations and maintenance, Digital Eye and Mastermind security systems, an integrated One App passenger journey, connected last-mile mobility and social media communication. The conference theme focused on urban accessibility and liveability in the digital age.
Planning for Urban Growth
The release attributed to Manohar Lal projections that urban residents could exceed half of India’s population by 2047, reaching approximately 800 million. He called for public transport planning that prioritises economically weaker communities and integrates different transport modes.
Metro Network Context
The minister cited approximately 1,185 km of operational metro network in India against 1,385 km in the United States, and said India could overtake it. These are attributed remarks, rather than independently audited comparisons. The release does not announce a new line opening or contract award.
